TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Auburn players didn’t hold back when discussing the Iron Bowl.

They also provided plenty of bulletin board material for Alabama ahead of the rivalry game. One of the biggest trash-talkers this week was Tigers freshman linebacker Demarcus Riddick.

On Monday, Riddick had thoughts on several of Alabama’s players, including Jalen Milroe.

“He is a good quarterback,” Riddick said. “He’s fast, but I mean, he’s not faster than me. He will not get out of that box this week.”

A freshman from Clanton, Alabama, Riddick will be facing the Crimson Tide for the first time on Saturday, November 30. He currently has 25 tackles, five tackles for loss and three sacks.

After Tuesday’s practice, Milroe was asked if he had heard Riddick’s now-viral comments.

“I don’t know who that is,” Milroe said. “Let him talk. It’s a part of it. It’s all about just executing what we need to do so we can be our best us this weekend. But yeah, good on him.”

Riddick also had thoughts on star Alabama freshman Ryan Williams, who enters his first Iron Bowl as the Crimson Tide’s leading receiver – 42 catches, 804 yards, eight touchdowns.

“Ryan Williams is Ryan Williams,” Riddick said. “Yeah, he’s electric, all this and that. In my eyes, he ain’t really nobody to me. Ryan Williams is himself. He ain’t no big-time player to me.”

Do Alabama’s players agree?

“I definitely think Ryan Williams is a big-time player,” said Tide defensive lineman Tim Keenan. “I think that’s the best 17-year-old I’ve ever seen. I’m a big fan of Ryan Williams. The plays he’s made, his impact, his influence, Ryan Williams is probably the biggest star to me, ever.”

To top it off, Riddick said he doesn’t plan to lose in the rivalry between Alabama and Auburn. The Tide enters this year’s matchup having won four straight Iron Bowls and hasn’t lost to the Tigers at Bryant-Denny Stadium since 2010 – the last time UA lost three games.

“Every rival team I played, I never lost to,” Riddick said. “I will not lose to ‘Bama while I’m here.”

Alabama’s veteran players didn’t take the bait when they were asked about all of the trash talk coming from the Plains this week. The Crimson Tide is focused on righting the wrongs from last time out, a 24-3 loss at Oklahoma, and ending the regular season on a high note.

Tight end CJ Dippre

“Talk’s talk. I don’t really get into it. I don’t talk that much. I don’t even think I trash-talk on the field. I just wanna focus on going 1-0 and doing that this week.”

Defensive end Jah-Marien Latham

“I have never been the trash-talk type of guy. Even on the field, I rarely talk trash. I line up, do my job, get to the ball. I feel like it doesn’t help you out in any way, talking trash on the field. It might give you a sense of excitement personally, but for me, I just think my job is to line up and go execute this play.”

Safety Malachi Moore

“They’re gonna do stuff to put it out there and try to hype the game up. But the game is already hype. It’s the Iron Bowl. Can’t get no bigger than this. We’re gonna see Saturday.”
