The Seattle Seahawks selected Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe in the third round in the 2025 NFL Draft, making him the fourth quarterback off the board with the 92nd overall selection.

Speaking to reporters at the Senior Bowl Charities Celebrity Golf Classic on Monday, Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer seemed to like the fit of his former quarterback in his former city – DeBoer came to Tuscaloosa after two seasons as the Washington head coach.

“I’m happy for Jalen in a lot of ways,” DeBoer said, via AL.com. “One, he’s just getting a chance to see a different part of the country. He’s (only) lived in the South, and that’s what life’s all about.

“But I think the other piece is just the fit. And he had told me that he really felt there was a fit with (the Seahawks) when he had his meetings with them before the draft.

“There was other places, too, I think he would have been a great fit, but this was certainly one of them he noted. I’m looking forward to really seeing his growth and development.”

In his second season as the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback, Milroe threw for 2,844 yards, 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, while completing 64.5 percent of his passes. Milroe also rushed for an Alabama-leading 726 yards and 20 touchdowns on 168 attempts.

Milroe led the Tide to a 20-6 record the last two seasons and will join a Seattle roster that does not need the rookie to come in and start right away with Sam Darnold, Drew Lock and Jaren Hall already in town. That could allow Milroe to focus on improving in Year 1, which is something that DeBoer has little doubt the former Alabama star will do as a rookie.

“He’s a guy of humility and knows he doesn’t have it all figured out yet,” DeBoer said. “That’s what’s going to allow him to continue to grow, continue to get better. But he’s got the tools.

“He does some crazy special things, things that no one else can really do, especially when it comes to running the football. So I know he’ll keep working, and he’ll make everyone up there proud and us, as well.”
