Alabama made it through its second and final bye week of the season on Saturday, resting and preparing for the final 4-game stretch of the regular season during the month of November.

Though Kalen DeBoer‘s team didn’t play on Saturday, it got some help on the rankings front. Three teams immediately in front of Alabama lost, including No. 10 Texas A&M, No. 11 Iowa State, and tied for No. 11 Clemson.

Those teams’ losses opened the path for the Crimson Tide to rise in the polls, coming in at No. 11 in this morning’s Coaches Poll. The AP Poll will be released later this afternoon.

Alabama is now the fourth-highest ranked SEC team, trailing No. 2 Georgia, No. 5 Texas, and No. 6/7 Tennessee, while ahead of No. 12/16 Ole Miss, No. 13/14 LSU, No. 16/15 Texas A&M, No. 22/UR Missouri and No. 25/24 Vanderbilt.

Starting this Tuesday, the polls will carry significantly less weight, as the College Football Playoff selection committee will release its first batch of rankings. Those rankings, which will be updated every week through the end of conference championship games, will be the determining factor for who makes the playoff at the end of the season.

This week, Alabama has a massive game on the road against LSU, with playoff hopes for both teams hanging in the balance. The game will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT and will air on ABC from Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La.
