Alabama suffered an extremely disappointing and unexpected loss this past weekend, falling 24-3 to Oklahoma on the road in Norman.

The loss is detrimental to the Crimson Tide’s SEC title and College Football Playoff chances in head coach Kalen DeBoer‘s first season in Tuscaloosa. Alabama dropped in both the AP and the Coaches Poll all the way down to No. 13.

The Crimson Tide is still hovering around the top 12, but would need a nearly miraculous turn of events in the final week of the season to have any hope of making the playoff. Tuesday night, the CFP selection committee will reveal its updated rankings. Alabama won’t know exactly where it stands in regards to a potential playoff berth until then.

Alabama is now the fourth-highest ranked SEC team, behind No. 3 Texas, No. 6 Georgia and No. 7/8 Tennessee, while ahead of No. 15/16 Ole Miss, No. 14/16 South Carolina, No. 19/20 Texas A&M and No. 24 Missouri.

This week is the regular season finale, with in-state rival Auburn coming to Bryant-Denny Stadium as Alabama looks to close the season out with a victory and move to 9-3 before whatever awaits in the postseason.
