ATLANTA — In case you’re wondering, Alabama outside linebacker Will Anderson Jr. did, in fact, hear the comments made about his head coach, Nick Saban, by Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher back in May. You know, the ones where Fisher called Saban a “narcissist” who thinks he’s God.

Anderson hasn’t forgotten the comments either.

On Tuesday, the reigning Bronko Nagurski Award winner was asked about the recent feud while speaking at SEC Media Days. He didn’t use a lot of words when responding to the question, but he really didn’t need to. The response he provided was more than enough to know exactly where he — and Alabama — stand on the subject.

“I watched it. I saw. I don’t really get into social media stuff. When we play Texas A&M, everything will be addressed there,” said Anderson.

Unfortunately, he might’ve unintentionally done exactly what he was attempting to avoid.

The junior linebacker clearly grabbed headlines with his response.

In fact, this quote will likely make its rounds on social media as a top takeaway from Day 2 of SEC Media Days. Who knows, it might even be used to give the Aggies some locker room material for later. Anderson was simply answering a question though. His response was honest, and I’m certain it’s appreciated by fans.

Does Saban share his star pass rusher’s thoughts? If he does, he isn’t making those feelings public. When he was asked if there were any lingering issues with Fisher, the longtime Alabama coach chose a different path. He uses what happened as an opportunity for self-reflection.

“I have no issues or problems with Jimbo,” Saban told reporters on Tuesday. “He’s done a great job at A&M, he did a great job for us [at LSU]. I always take criticisms or whatever in a positive way to self-assess me, personally, in terms of, maybe there is something I can do better.

“So, any comments that anybody makes, you or any coach, I always take into consideration. But there are no issues or problems.”

For obvious reasons, the showdown between the Crimson Tide and Aggies, which is set to take place at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Oct. 8, was already circled on a lot of calendars. After Tuesday’s comments from Anderson, it’s safe to assume another layer of intrigue has been added.
