Choctawhatchee (Fort Walton Beach, Fla.) three-star cornerback Dante Core has flipped his commitment from Auburn to Ole Miss.

Core announced his decision Monday on social media.

His commitment to the Rebels comes two days after his most recent visit to Oxford. Core on Saturday attended Ole Miss’s upset win over No. 3-ranked Georgia.

“The atmosphere was amazing,” Core told OMSpirit, On3’s Ole Miss site. “The fans were going crazy the entire game.”

It was Core’s third known visit to Ole Miss. He previously took an unofficial visit to Oxford in April and returned for an official visit in June.

Looking back at Core’s commitment to Auburn

Core had been committed to Auburn since May 18 and has visited the Plains several times since.

“I just felt like (Auburn) is a great fit for me,” he said at the time of his commitment to Auburn. “It feels like home. The hospitality is great. I love all the staff, love the coaches, love the culture and love what they’re building.

“Ever since I stepped foot on campus they made me feel important. The fans are great. The energy is great. Everything. There is nothing not to love about Auburn.”

Auburn now has 26 total commitments and five defensive backs. Two, Anquon Fegans and Eric Winters, project at safety, which leaves three – Donovan Starr, Devin Williams and Blake Woodby – to man the cornerback/nickel positions.

Auburn also is in a great spot to flip USC cornerback commitment Shamar Arnoux and continues to work to flip Ohio State five-star cornerback commitment Na’eem Offord.
