Four-star cornerback Austin Ausberry has committed to Auburn.

Ausberry, from University Lab in Baton Rouge, La., announced his decision on Monday. He chose Auburn over his other finalists: Alabama, LSU, Florida, Michigan and Notre Dame.

“I love it at Auburn,” Ausberry said. “I like the program and coaches. I like everything.”

Ausberry especially credits Auburn cornerbacks coach Zac Etheridge.

“I love Coach Zac because he keeps it real,” Ausberry said. “He said that he needed me and wanted me. He told me what he would do for me. He would raise my game both mentally and physically. He’s really into the mental aspect of the game and I really like that.”

Ausberry noticed Etheridge’s results with Auburn cornerback Roger McCreary, who was named first-team All-American on Monday.

“(McCreary) was a fourth-round pick, but now he’s a first-round guy,” Ausberry said.

Auburn also developed a strong bond with Trovon Reed, coordinator of player relations. Reed was the top recruit in Louisiana in 2010 and signed with Auburn over in-state LSU.

“Coach Reed is the realest dude I’ve ever met,” Ausberry said. “That’s my guy, for sure. He kept it real about everything. I just appreciate his time and everything. He’s a great dude.

“He told me about why he chose Auburn. He said he could’ve went to LSU, but Auburn actually felt like home to him. I get that vibe, too.”

Auberry is Auburn’s 14th commitment in the 2022 class and fourth defensive back, joining Ja’Kobi Albert, Tre Donaldson and Caleb Wooden.
