Four-star cornerback Blake Woodby has committed to Auburn.

Woodby, who attends St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Md., announced his decision Saturday at the beginning of the Tigers’ Big Cat recruiting event. The former Ohio State commitment chose Auburn over Oregon and Maryland.

“I love Auburn,” he said. “Auburn is home for me.”

Woodby’s commitment comes after three previous trips to Auburn. He first visited in March and then returned in late May for an official visit and again in June for an unofficial visit.

“I feel more and more comfortable at Auburn,” he said. “And they make it easy. It feels like home. It feels like family. Everybody knows everybody. I know everybody from my official visit, from the equipment people to the offensive staff to the defensive staff to the special teams staff.

“I know everybody and everybody knows me. They are all invested in me and me in them.”

That includes cornerbacks coach Wesley “Crime Dog” McGriff and safeties coach Charles Kelly.

“Coach Crime had the red carpet laid out for me,” Woodby said after his official visit. “Coach Rohan (Gaines) did a great job communicating with me and stayed with my parents the whole time they were here. Just meeting with Coach Crime and Coach Kelly (was a highlight).

“We were at dinner and I barely touched my food because me and Coach Kelly were talking ball. Coach Kelly, we are real close. Coach Crime, we are real close. Those relationships exceed past football, too.”

Woodby is the 17th commitment in Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class and second from St. Frances Academy. His friend and teammate, three-star defensive athlete Bryce Deas, committed to Auburn in June.

He is the fourth commitment of the day for Auburn, joining 2026 four-star edge Hezekiah Harris, 2026 four-star LB JaMichael Garrett and 2026 four-star LB Shadarius Toodle.

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power on Woodby

“Blake Woodby is a hyper competitive corner who has been battle-tested for years while playing top competition at St. Frances Academy. He’s a prospect that we’ve known about for some time, as he burst onto the scene as a freshman.

“Woodby has the makings of a team leader and the mentality you like to see at corner. He runs well at around 5-foot-10, 180 pounds. We view him as a likely fit at nickel given his size and skill set.”
