BREAKING: 4-star CB Jalyn Crawford commits to Auburn over Florida, LSU
Auburn football on Saturday added a huge commitment from Jalyn Crawford, who is widely regarded as one of the top cornerbacks in the country.
Crawford, from Parkview in Lilburn, Ga., announced his commitment to the Tigers during a ceremony at New Mercies Christian Church. He chose Auburn over his other finalists, Florida and LSU.
“It’s just a good vibe down there at Auburn,” Crawford told Auburn Live. “The people, every time I go there they make me feel at home. It’s also close to home. I don’t have to go too far away from home. That’s big for me.”
Crawford has visited Auburn at least three times since Hugh Freeze and staff took over in November. He was on the Plains for unofficial visits on March 13 and April 22. He also returned for an official visit on June 9-11.
Crawford also took official visits to Florida (June 2-4) and LSU (June 16-18).
“I kinda knew it would be Auburn earlier this month,” he said. “I sat down and wrote my pros and cons for each school and compared and contrasted them. And Auburn was easy for me.”
Auburn coaches played big roles in Crawford’s choice
Three big reasons why Auburn was an easy choice is coach Hugh Freeze, cornerbacks coach Wesley McGriff and safeties coach Zac Etheridge. Crawford has built strong bonds with the three coaches.

“Coach Freeze was a big, big reason,” he said. “He’s a good dude. He has a plan for the team. I feel like the program can really go somewhere under him.
“And Coach Crime (McGriff) and Coach Etheridge, both of them came after me hard. Coach Crime is a good dude. Me and him talk almost every other day. We talk and just chop it up, building that player-coach relationship.”
CB has high hopes for Auburn’s 2024 class
Crawford said his commitment to Auburn is solid. He will not be taking any other visits.
“I’m done,” he said. “I’m closing my recruitment and am locked in.”
He will, however, be trying to get other recruits to join him in this class.
“I already have been recruiting for Auburn. I’m working on Perry Thompson, Demarcus Riddick, KJ Bolden, TJ Lindsey and a few other guys. I’m trying to get it done.
“We’re going to shock the world with this class.”
Crawford, who is listed at six-feet tall and 180 pounds, is ranked the No. 192 overall recruit in the On3 Industry Ranking. He’s also ranked the No. 22 cornerback in the country and No. 26 recruit in Georgia.
