Breakdown
**Breakdown written by Auburn Live Recruiting Analyst Cole Pinkston
— Smith has one of the most impressive frames in the country for the class of 2025. He has elite potential in his frame and how he might grow into it.
— With Smith transferring to Thompson from Spain Park mid-season as a junior, we will have to rely more on his sophomore film. Based on that, he has a nice get-off and shows a high athletic ceiling for a guy with his size.
— Smith will fit at the edge position for Auburn to start. As he continues to grow, Smith could be a 5-technique, in the role of Keldric Faulk currently.

— Smith’s body type will fit at 5-technique, but his skillset screams stand up edge. He shouldn’t lose a step as he continues to fill out his big frame. If his get-off remains quick, his length could turn him into a top-round draft pick one day.
— At least in his sophomore film, Smith is not a high football IQ guy for now. He has a ways to go in learning how to use hands, get pad level down, and other small details of edge rushing.
— Smith’s potential is all about his athletic ceiling and size. That’s the bottom line.
— Due to his frame, the sky is the limit with Jared Smith. His progress from sophomore year to senior year could be major when the season rolls around. Whatever Auburn saw from him during the spring was enough to make him a tier-one priority.
