4-star WR commit Adam Hopkins: At Auburn, 'all the love was up there, man'
THOMASVILLE, GEORGIA – Auburn on Thursday morning added 4-star wide receiver Adam Hopkins to its 2023 recruiting class. Hopkins, the No. 1 receiver in the state of Georgia, says that the Auburn staff turned up the heat on him in the past few months.
He was ready to join the class and make it official.
Auburn Live was on the scene for Hopkins’ announcement ceremony in the cafeteria of his school, Thomas County (Ga.) Central High.
Hopkins spoke about when he knew Auburn was the choice and what led him to that decision.
Auburn Live’s Cole Pinkston was on-hand and recorded the video below.
Hopkins felt the love from the Auburn staff
When did Hopkins know he was going to commit to Auburn?
“Really, when I got an offer from them, that was the old staff,” Hopkins said. “I was already kind of feeling them then. So when I got in contact with the new staff, it was just unbelievable, man. I’m texting, I’m talking about every coach in there. So, I’ve got a bond with every one of the coaches. When I went up there, all the love was up there, man. Attention was up, it was good, everything.”
Hopkins made the trip a week ago for the Auburn-San Jose State game. He now plans to make it back, if possible, to the Penn State game. The game day experience was what he wanted to see.
“It went wonderful,” Hopkins said. “Great environment up there, everything is good up there, all the coaches, all the recruitment people, everything was just wonderful, man. It’s a blessing to be there.”

Ike Hilliard a major factor in landing Hopkins
Auburn wide receiver coach Ike Hilliard recently made Hopkins one of his highest priorities. The two have built a close bond.
“Oh yeah, he played a big part, really,” Hopkins said. “He had gotten in contact with me because I had gotten in contact with him. After that, we just started talking every day on a constant basis. That bond is getting to where when we just talk, it’s not even on football levels. We just have a regular conversation throughout the day. So like, with him, and me committing, he had a big role in it.”
When did Hopkins tell the staff he was going to choose the Tigers?
“I told the staff, I just told the receiver coach (Hilliard), so I really don’t know if everybody else knew,” Hopkins said. “I told them to keep a look out so I could do what I’m doing right now. So, I really just told Coach Hilliard so I really don’t know. I know Coach Hilliard was pumped up by that for sure.”
Hopkins now hopes to become a recruiter for the Tigers.
“I’m going to make it back for games, recruiting, saying ‘hey man, come to Auburn’,” Hopkins said. “War Eagle, that’s what it is. So, I’ll be doing all of that.”
