All-American DB Tyler Scott commits to Auburn
Since offering cornerback Tyler Scott of Mableton (Ga.) Pebblebrook in late August, Auburn has made him a priority and treated him like a 5-star recruit.
It paid off.
Scott, one of the Tigers’ top defensive targets in the 2023 class, went public with his commitment to Auburn on Saturday during NBC’s live telecast of the All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas. He actually signed his Letter of Intent with the Tigers on Dec. 21, but because he was playing in the prestigious game he wanted to hold off on announcing until Saturday.
Auburn won out over programs such as Southern California and Texas because the Tigers are “close to home and the coaching staff shows a lot of love,” Scott told Auburn Live.
For Auburn, he is commitment No. 20 in the 2023 class. The Tigers also have added four transfers (so far).
Scott participated in the All-American Bowl on Saturday
Scott, a 3-star prospect who is 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, is the No. 56 cornerback in the country for the On3 Consensus. He checks in as the No. 54 recruit in the state of Georgia. Scott holds an 88.05 On3 Consensus rating and an 89 rating from On3 (90.00 is the 4-star line).
After a strong week of practice in Texas, he potentially could move up in the rankings.
Despite his 3-star rating at this time, Scott has a 5-star offer list that includes the likes of Alabama, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Southern California and Texas. The Trojans and Longhorns, in fact, pushed hard and both programs hosted him on official visits in December.
Scott once was committed to Arkansas State, but in the fall his recruitment exploded. Auburn was among the first Power 5 schools to offer and at the time some fans wondered why Scott was being targeted. Then, a ton of other big-time offers poured in.

“It was crazy,” Scott said. “Every week I had something going on.”
Scott has great relationships with both Auburn secondary coaches
Regarding Auburn’s recruitment, this has been a two-man operation with secondary coaches Zac Etheridge and Wesley McGriff leading the charge. Scott is close with both.
While Scott has known Etheridge and McGriff for some time, he only recently met new Auburn coach Hugh Freeze during his in-home visit with Scott in December.
“I love him,” Scott said. “My mom likes him, too.”
In college, Scott probably will play boundary corner, he said. But, he added, “I’m just trying to get on the field wherever the coaches need me.”
Scott has an NIL valuation from On3 of $6,400. That number is lower than one might expect given his offer list, largely because he flew under the radar for so long.
Scott will enroll at Auburn this summer.
