AUBURN — Auburn redshirt sophomore cornerback Tyler Scott has re-entered the NCAA transfer portal according to Auburn Live’s Justin Hokanson. Scott redshirted after an injury during the 2024 season for the Tigers and will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Scott was the No. 321 overall player in the class of 2023, the No. 34 cornerback, and the No. 30 player in the state of Georgia. He held a 4-star rating and was an Army All-American coming out of Pebblebrook High School in Mableton (Ga.)

What does Scott’s departure mean?

Scott played sparingly against Samford in 2023 and played in garbage time in a few other games while keeping his redshirt. Scott suffered a season-ending injury during fall camp before the 2024 season. He was back into action during the spring, but has decided to look elsewhere as he is starting near the bottom of the cornerback room again. Impact of Scott’s departure: Minimal

What positions will Auburn go after in the portal?

Hugh Freeze broke down after the A-Day practice what the Tigers may prioritize in the post-spring portal…

“We have been discussing that every personnel meeting because I think the game is changing. You know, I haven’t heard the latest on the settlement, but, it’s going to be difficult, you’re going to have to model it after an NFL roster, I think, eventually. We haven’t made that final determination yet and you know, some of it will probably depend on what’s available. I think it’s probably going to be a pretty hard sell maybe, you know, so that’s something we’re still determining.

“But the positions you never will turn down interior D-lines or pass rusher, or some guys with experience. I really like our young linebackers. Could we use one that has some experience if one’s available? Probably so. And we’ll never turn down a great cover guy either. I think offensively we’re pretty, pretty set provided, you know, obviously we’ve got to retain our roster too with another portal coming.”
