Auburn flips DL Stephen Johnson from Arkansas
The Auburn Tigers have landed another commitment Sunday — this time from former Arkansas Razorbacks verbal Stephen Johnson.
He officially visited the Tigers this weekend and now is Auburn bound.
“I just notified Arkansas that I am committed to Auburn,” Johnson told Auburn Live.
Johnson is the 15th verbal in the 2023 Auburn recruiting class. The Tigers currently have the No. 27 class in the country. That’s up from No. 38 seven days ago for new coach Hugh Freeze and Co.
Johnson is listed at 6-foot-4 and 310 pounds. Auburn offered him a scholarship last Tuesday. Tigers defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett visited his school that day.
“Great dude,” Johnson told Auburn Live. “He was recruiting me at Liberty so we already had that little connection. He was like my third offer.”

For Johnson, landing the Auburn offer was significant.
“It really meant a lot to me,” he said. “Coming from a high-profile school like that and getting that kind of attention really boosted my ego a little.”
Johnson is the No. 142 defensive lineman in the country for On3.
The previous Auburn regime recruited him and evaluated him this fall, but never offered. He committed to the Razorbacks on June 26.
Johnson also claims offers from several other Power 5 programs.
