Auburn has 11 commitments in its 2023 recruiting class with six projected to play on offense.

Needless to say, there’s still plenty of work to be done before the early signing period begins in December. There’s also plenty of time.

[ Auburn’s 2023 commitment list ]

What is left for Auburn on offense in the 2023 class? Who are the top recruits at each position and what are Auburn’s chances with them?

The Hot Board has the answers.

Below are who I believe are the top targets at each position and my guesses at Auburn’s chances of signing them. Keep in mind, the percentages are Auburn’s chances against the field.

Quarterback (0-1)

NameHometownOfferPreviousCurrent
Brock Glenn (4)Memphis, Tenn.YesOhio State10%

Auburn likely won’t sign a high school quarterback in this class. The Tigers likely will look to the transfer portal after the season. They also likely will take two in the 2024 class with one, four-star Adrian Posse, already committed.

Running backs (1)

Name (star rating)HometownOfferPreviousCurrent
Jeremiah Cobb (4)Montgomery, Ala.YesAuburnAU

Auburn has a commitment from Cobb and is likely done here until the transfer portal opens. I think ideally Auburn would like to sign Cobb, a transfer and two high school guys in a loaded 2024 class.

Wide receivers (2-3)

Name (star rating)HometownOfferPreviousCurrent
Daquayvious Sorey (4)Chipley, Fla.YesAuburnAU
Adam Hopkins (4)Thomasville, Ga.YesAuburnAU
Jalen Brown (4)Miami, Fla.YesLSU/25%25%
Chance Fitzgerald (NR)Nolensville, Tenn.Yes25%25%

Auburn has two committed in Sorey and Hopkins, but would like to add one more. Brown remains the top target, but flipping him from LSU might not be easy. Still, the Tigers visited him on Friday and could get him in for a visit soon. Auburn also added Fitzgerald to its offer board last week. The next step would be getting him on campus for a visit.

Tight ends (1)

Name (star rating)HometownOfferPreviousCurrent
Jelani Thurman (4)Fairburn, Ga.YesOhio State/35%35%
Ka’Morreun Pimpton (3)Fort Worth, TexasYesVandy/20%20%

Brett Norfleet (4)St. Charles, Mo.YesMissouri/10%10%
Jayvontay Conner (3)Kernersville, N.C.NoOle Miss/10%10%

Auburn is looking for one tight end in the class, but likely will have to flip someone to make it happen. The Tigers are recruiting several, but the top target has been and remains Thurman. The four-star recruit is committed to Ohio State, but visited for the San Jose State, Penn State and LSU games. He’ll likely be back for another game before the season ends. Auburn continues to be a threat. Auburn also is pushing hard for Pimpton. Tight ends coach Brad Bedell made an eval visit to see him last week.

Offensive tackles (5-6)

Name (star rating)HometownOfferPreviousCurrent
Gernorris Wilson (3)Lakeland, Fla.YesAuburnAU
Clay Wedin (3)Tampa, Fla.YesAuburnAU
Keyshawn Blackstock (NR)Coffeyville, Kan. (JUCO)Yes75%75%
Stanton Ramil (4)Alabaster, Ala.YesMich. State/45%45%
Bo Hughley (4)Fairburn, Ga.YesGeorgia/40%40%
Elijah Philippe (NR)Scranton, Pa. (JUCO)Yes25%25%
Isaiah Jatta (3)Ephraim, Utah (JUCO)YesS. Carolina/25%25%

Auburn has commitments from Wilson and Wedin, but would like to add one more high school tackle and 2-3 junior college guys. Ramil is now the top high school target while Blackstock remains the top JUCO. Bryan Harsin and Will Friend both traveled to Kansas Saturday to scout Blackstock. Ramil remains committed to Michigan State, but having Wedin on board could help AU’s efforts in flipping him. Ramil and Wedin have become close friends throughout their recruitments and commitments to Michigan State. Auburn also continues to heavily recruit Hughley, the UGA commitment. He visited for the Penn State and LSU games and continues to look hard at AU.

Interior offensive linemen (2-3)

Name (star rating)HometownOfferPreviousCurrent
Bradyn Joiner (3)Auburn, Ala.YesAuburnAU
D.J. Chester (4)Conyers, Ga.Yes55%55%
Sean Thompkins (3)Newton, Ga.YesBaylor/45%45%
Paul Mubenga (3)Buford, Ga.YesLSU/40%40%
Ryqueze McElderry (4)Anniston, Ala.YesAlabama/10%10%
Kelton Smith (4)Columbus, Ga.YesGeorgia/10%10%

Auburn has a commitment from Joiner and would like to add 1-2 more from this group. The top target is Chester. Auburn has made him a top priority and is pushing hard. Another to keep an eye on is Thompkins, who is from the same high school as Blackstock. The Tigers visited him last week. Auburn also is keeping a close eye on Mubenga. Will Friend visited his school and attended his game on Friday.
