Auburn football roster reset: Offensive line
AUBURN -- A rebuilt offensive line did a nice job for Jake Thornton and Hugh Freeze last season all things considered, but there will be more rebuilding heading into 2024. Auburn finished fourth in the SEC in rushing at 189 yards per game. The sacks allowed (34, 10th) and tackles for loss allowed (6.15 per game, 9th) weren't ideal, but between inconsistent play at quarterback, lack of playmaking at receiver, and overall scattered play-calling and strategy, it's hard to pin too much of that on simply the offensive line. Gone are starters Gunner Britton and Kam Stutts, plus part-time starter Avery Jones. But with 14 scholarship linemen slated to go through spring practice, the Tigers' overall depth looks good. In a short period of time, Thornton and Freeze have done a solid job of adding quality, SEC-level depth. There's still work to be done, but there's more confidence around this group and its direction than in years past. What’s the state of things heading into the spring as it pertains to scholarship offensive line? Let’s take a quick look.
