Auburn football roster reset: Running backs
AUBURN -- If Auburn's offense is going to take positive strides forward next season, the running back room will be a big reason why. The experience and talent is there, but consistency will be key. The Tigers' primary running backs (Hunter, Alston, Battie, Cobb and Jackson) rushed for 1,723 yards last season. It's the exact same number they rushed for in 2022 (Bigsby, Hunter and Alston). The last time a stable of Auburn running backs combined for 2,000-plus rushing yards was the 2017 season, led by Kerryon Johnson's 1,391 yards. And by the time the 2024 season begins, two seasons will have passed since Auburn's last 1,000-yard rusher, as Tank Bigsby went for 1,099 yards on 2021. What’s the state of things heading into the spring as it pertains to scholarship running backs? Let’s take a quick look.
