Drew Fabianich will finalize his deal this week.
“The department needed some experience and he brings experience from the highest level,” a source told Auburn Live. “It will be great for us.”
Fabianich was in discussions about other NFL opportunities, with some in the NFL regarding him as capable of becoming an NFL GM.
From talking to sources inside the Auburn program, Fabianich’s role will be centered around overseeing all facets of recruiting and personnel. Fabianich will provide ultimate direction in those departments, and use his NFL experience to elevate Auburn football’s program.

Fabianich will coordinate and facilitate everyone inside the Auburn football department working together and being on the same page when it comes to recruiting and personnel. The recruiting department will still handle all visits to campus, but Fabianich will be a professional and experienced go-between for Harsin and the off-the-field staffers.
Earlier in the offseason, it was reported that the Cowboys’ national scout, Drew Fabianich was departing Dallas after eighteen seasons with the team. Fabianich led the team’s scouting efforts from 2004 onward, but parted ways with the team in May.
It’s a major departure for the Cowboys and a major addition for Auburn. There is a growing pipeline of scouts, coaches and other staff leaving the NFL for gigs in high-level college football, and Fabianich is the latest example of that.
Combined with the hire of Steven Ruzic from North Carolina in the offseason, Harsin continues to make impressive moves in beefing up his staff when it comes to evaluating, recruiting and personnel decisions.
