Holloway was a 5-star recruit, graduating from Prolific Prep in Napa, Calif. He led the Crew to a No. 3 national ranking and 36-1 overall record averaging a team-best 18.5 points, 5.1 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game as a senior. Prolific Prep earned the No. 3 seed at GEICO Nationals. Holloway ranked No 18 overall and a 4-star by the On3 Sports Consensus rankings. He was No. 21 overall in the Class of 2023 by ESPN, No. 27 overall by 247Sports and No. 33 overall by Rivals.
Impact on the Auburn roster
Holloway, while talented, didn’t seem to adjust well during the season to Auburn’s needs at the point guard position. This was as much a mutual decision as anything, sources tell Auburn Live. Holloway was a naturally gifted shooter and scorer in high school, but he struggled to separate and dominate at the college level. That may come, but Auburn is building towards another championship run in 2025 and needs to try and upgrade at the position. Holloway is a highly coveted player who can take advantage of the NIL market through the transfer portal.
