Top-60 recruit Jordan Ross visits Auburn scrimmage, impressed by 2 freshmen

Jordan Ross, a four-star edge from Vestavia, Ala., visited Auburn on Friday.

Ross, who is ranked the No. 60 overall recruit in the 2024 class and No. 6 edge, toured the campus and facilities. He talked to the coaches. He enjoyed it all.

But he enjoyed watching the Tigers scrimmage more than anything.

“It was great. I didn’t expect it to be like that,” he said. “I watched [Keldric Faulk]. He is huge. I didn’t expect him to be that big. They got him playing the jack position and he’s destroying pretty much everybody.

“I also saw the new, true freshman No. 55 (Bradyn Joiner), and he was destroying people. He was doing really good.”

Ross spent a lot of time with jack linebackers coach/defensive coordinator Ron Roberts. He also spoke with Hugh Freeze and many of the recruiting staff.

“They were really friendly,” he said. “I talked to pretty much all the recruiting assistants. They were great. They were telling me about how great Auburn was and how I should come there.”

Ross is at least considering it. After Friday’s visit, he’s hopeful to return to Auburn soon.

“Hopefully,” he said. “It was a great visit.”

Ross has an official visit to Tennessee set for June 23-25. He also has an unofficial visit to Georgia planned for next week.

Could Auburn get an official visit?

“Probably,” he said. “If they keep continuing to tell me I’m a priority, they probably will get one.”

Ross’s On3 Personal Life

Jordan Ross’ nickname is “Childs Play” but his teammates and high school coach say there’s nothing to kid about his game. Ross earned all-state, all-region, all-metro and even some All-America honors after the 2022 season. Ross recorded 16 tackles for a loss and had two defensive touchdowns for Vestavia Hills (Alabama) High School as a junior.

“He’s got length, and he’s got great closing speed,” legendary Vestavia Hills coach Buddy Anderson said.

Ross reportedly clocked a 4.6-second 40-yard dash and recorded a 35-inch vertical leap in the summer before his junior season.

“He jumps off the tape,” Anderson said.

Ross also jumps off the film on the basketball court, where he’s center at Vestavia Hills.
