AUBURN — Not only did Auburn’s players want a win to end the five-game losing streak, they wanted a win for their coach, Carnell Williams.

Going from being in charge of seven players to the entire roster and staff was something that Williams never thought he would be doing. He wanted to serve this team, though, when the opportunity arose.

The players bought into everything that he wanted to do and they played their hearts out for “Coach Lac.”

“When coach go the job, the building changed,” running back Tank Bigsby said. “The energy started feeling more of Auburn and it was missing that a little bit. I’m really happy that feeling came back because Auburn football is special. This place doesn’t deserve nothing but the best…”

Bigsby, who ran for 121 yards tonight on 23 attempts, knows Williams more than most on this team and gives tons of credit to him on his development while being at Auburn. From freshman year to now, he knows says Williams has taught him so much on and off the field.

“To be able to get that win today, coach put in that hard work,” Bigsby added in his postgame press conference. “He’s always grinding. He can’t make us grind, but we grind because we see the effort and the ‘want to’ that he has. It’s amazing that coach was able to lead us in this way to get this victory… On and off the field he’s taught me so much (during) my years here.”

One of the main things that fans have loved to see from Williams on the sidelines is his constant energy. If you ask coach, he will say that the fans “put a battery” in his back and energized him. The players would say the same about Williams, though, because they feed off of his passion.

Defensive lineman Marcus Harris was asked how much it means to win this game for his coach.

“That means the most because we can tell just how much love he has for us and how much support he has for us, even before he was the head coach,” Harris said. “To get him in that position and then help him win this game, that was amazing. He really brought the energy tonight.”
