Auburn Regional: Tigers beat Central Connecticut State, play Stetson next

AUBURN — No. 4 national seed Auburn held serve on Friday night.
The Tigers defeated Central Connecticut State 9-5 in front of a Plainsman Park all-time record of 7,367 fans busting at the seams to watch the Tigers attempt another run to Omaha. The game was delayed due to rain earlier in the day, finishing up around 11 pm CT.
Auburn scored four runs in the first, four more in the third, and the final run in the fourth. CCSU scored three runs in the second, one in the third and one in the eighth.
Player of the game: Carson Myers
Myers entered the game in the second inning after starter Cam Tilly allowed five hits and three runs in just one inning of work. Myers threw the next six innings out of the bullpen, allowing six hits, striking out nine, walking only two, and allowing just one earned run. His performance settled the home team and allowed Auburn’s offense to pull away for the win.
Hitters of the game: Lucas Steele, Bub Terrell, Eric Snow, Ike Irish and Chase Fralick
Both Steele and Terrell notched two hits, with Terrell driving in three, while Steele drove in two, including a solo home run, and scored two runs. Snow finished with two hits and two runs, also drawing two walks. Irish and Fralick both recorded two hits, including one double and one run scored each.
