BREAKING: 2025 RB Omar Mabson commits to Auburn: 'I love everything about it'

Class of 2025 running back Omar Mabson has committed to Auburn.
Mabson, who attends Auburn High School, announced his decision Monday morning on social media. He chose the Tigers over Vanderbilt and North Carolina, among others.
“I love everything about it,” Mabson said. “It’s home. The coaches, the relationships, I love everything about it.”
Mabson just finished his junior season in which he rushed for 1,515 yards. He averaged 8.2 yards per carry and scored 29 touchdowns for powerhouse Auburn High. He reclassified from the 2026 class to the 2025 class following the season.
“I reclassified because I felt that I was ready to go to college,” he said. “I was just ready for the next level, ready to take the next step.”
Mabson excited for next step
He now will be taking his talents across town to Auburn University.
“It feels good, but I’m not going to be at the house, though,” he said. “I’m going to treat it like I’m out in California or somewhere. I’m going to treat it like I’m going to college to play football and pursue going to the NFL.”

Mabson credits Auburn coach Hugh Freeze and offensive coordinator/running backs coach Derrick Nix for making the decision an easy one.
“They were big,” he said. “They came to the house. They came to the school. They showed me real love and showed me I was a top priority.”
Mabson will sign on Feb. 5. He will be the 26th high school signee in Auburn’s 2025 class and 42nd total signee (16 transfers).
“I’m very excited,” he said. “I’m ready to compete. War Eagle!”
