BREAKING: 4-star LB Elijah Melendez commits to Auburn
Four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez, the No. 10 linebacker in the country, has committed to Auburn.
Melendez, who attends Osceola High School in Kissimmee, Fla., announced his decision Saturday on social media. His decision comes two weeks after de-committing from Miami.
Melendez’s commitment to the Tigers also comes during his fourth visit to the Plains. He arrived in Auburn early Saturday morning for another overnight unofficial visit. He previously visited for Auburn’s season opener against Alabama A&M and for an official visit in May.
“It was amazing,” he said after the official visit. “It was a really good visit, really eye opening. I saw a lot of good things this weekend, just overall had an amazing weekend.”
Melendez’s brother was with him during the visit.
“My brother loved it,” Melendez said. “He thinks it’s a real good school for me, a real good fit for me with football and family, the grind and effort, the fan base. Everything about it is really good. You can’t really beat this.”

Melendez high on Auburn coaches
His favorite part about the visit was the coaches.
“Just being around the staff, Coach (DJ) Durkin and Coach Hugh Freeze,” he said. “Just building better bonds with them and seeing their plans for me here and being able to trust them. They gained a lot of trust with me this weekend and that really helps a lot.
“Coach Durkin, me and him have the same personality and passion for football. Playing for a coach with the same personality and passion for football every day, that would make me a way better football and get me to where I want to be. He wants me to play the mike.”
Melendez is listed at 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds. The On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, ranks him the No. 172 overall recruit in the country and No. 27 in Florida.
He is the 24th commitment in Auburn’s 2025 class and second linebacker, joining four-star Jakaleb Faulk.
