BREAKING: 4-star LB Tyler Lockhart commits to Auburn
Four-star linebacker Tyler Lockhart has committed to Auburn.
Lockhart, who attends Winonah Secondary School in Mississippi, announced his decision Monday night on social media.
“Proud to say that I’m COMMITTED @AuburnFootball,” he wrote on X.
Lockhart’s surprise commitment comes a little more than five weeks after his most recent visit to Auburn. During the visit in March, Lockhart was able to see the Tigers practice.
“Everything stood out. The energy and the people,” he said. “The defense, the way the linebackers play. The linebacker position looks good, like it would fit me.”
Lockhart has developed a good relationship with new Auburn linebackers coach DJ Durkin.
“I like him. He’s a good guy,” Lockhart said. “He wants me here. He’s the reason I came today.”
He got time with Hugh Freeze as well.
“I think we would have a good relationship if I came here,” he said.
Lockhart, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, is the No. 16 linebacker in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He also ranks the No. 146 overall recruit in the class and No. 6 in Mississippi.
He is Auburn’s 10th commitment in the 2025 class. His decision came just hours after three-star tight end Hollis Davidson de-committed from the Tigers.

Auburn post-spring transfer portal class ranking so far
Auburn now has five additions in its post-spring transfer portal class, putting the full number of 2024 transfers up to 14. As I have done with the high school class, we will rank the portal additions for this window so far, too.
For this ranking, because the portal players do not all have the same amount of years of eligibility remaining, I have a specific ranking system: Who will be the best for the 2024 Auburn Tigers? It seems like this is the best way to go about it. Also, need for the position is not considered as much in this ranking… Just the impact the player will have at Auburn in 2024.
No. 1: WR – KeAndre Lambert-Smith, Penn State
Lambert-Smith is a veteran wide receiver who has a high level of football IQ–something Auburn has not had in a while. He can play on the outside or in the slot and has done plenty of damage from both. While Lambert-Smith does not strike us as a flashy receiver, he is consistent and reliable. He’s more than just solid, too. Lambert-Smith is fast, hard-nosed, and finds ways to get open. If he is not open, he makes contested catches with great focus when being covered. There is a lot to love about Lambert-Smith and what he does for Auburn’s offense.
No. 2: DL – Isaiah Raikes, USC
Raikes is another guy that won’t do anything wildly flashy, but will be consistent at his job and make Auburn’s defense better. For the record, these kinds of players are of high value in my opinion. Raikes is a space eater, but has moments of getting to the quarterback when not being doubled. He’s more versatile than just being a plugger, but his main job should be holding up the double teams. I love what he brings to the table and think he is a valuable piece. He falls below Crawford simply because Crawford has the ability to make the big play more often.
