Four-star linebacker Tyler Lockhart has de-committed from Auburn.
Lockhart, who attends Winona Secondary School in Mississippi, announced his decision Friday on social media. He had been committed to the Tigers since May.
“After a long talk with my family I have decided to open my recruitment and de-commit Auburn University,” he wrote on X.
Lockhart’s de-commitment comes five days after an official visit to Mississippi State. That visit came a week after visiting Auburn.
“Great people here,” he said following his visit to Auburn. “It’s a good program and I think it fits me. I feel great. I think I made the right decision.”
Lockhart is the second de-commitment for Auburn this week. Four-star offensive tackle Carde Smith reopened his recruit on Wednesday.
Auburn now has 14 commitments in its 2024 class, a group currently ranked No. 10 in the On3 Team Rankings.

Smith initially committed to Auburn over Florida State and Mississippi State. USC, however, has made a recent push.
Smith took an official visit to USC June 21-23.
“The USC visit showed me some different things,” he told On3’s USC site, WeAreSC. “[They] made a real hard push for me to be here.”
Auburn’s 2025 class now has 15 total commitments and four offensive linemen: four-star tackle Broderick Shull, three-star interior lineman Tai Buster, three-star tackle Spencer Dowland and four-star tackle Tavaris Dice.
