BREAKING: Auburn flips DB Shamar Arnoux from USC
Auburn has flipped three-star defensive back Shamar Arnoux from USC. Arnoux, who is from Carrollton, Ga., had been committed to USC since June. He took an official visit to Auburn in July and said the Tigers had a shot. Now, Arnoux will be a Tiger.
Arnoux is the No. 452 overall player in the class of 2025, the No. 43 corner, and the No. 60 player in the state of Georgia according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
Auburn is now back to 27 commitments in the class of 2025 after Arnoux’s addition and the loss of three-star corner Dante Core to Ole Miss. The Tigers remain at No. 6 nationally in the team rankings for the class of 2025
Arnoux has strong bonds with Auburn coaches, likes Tigers’ defense
He was impressed with the Auburn defense during his visit, which held Vanderbilt to 227 total yards of offense and 143 passing yards.
“I really enjoyed it, the fight from the defense,” he said. “The defense, there is nothing more that you could ask them to do. They held up their end of the bargain. I watched Jalyn Crawford. He’s good. That shows me they can develop. He has come a long ways.”

Arnoux has developed strong bonds with cornerbacks coach Wesley McGriff and co-defensive coordinator/safeties coach Charles Kelly. He spoke to both on Saturday, as well as coach Hugh Freeze.
“I had a one-on-one with Hugh Freeze,” Arnoux said. “He told me that he needed me. And my relationships with (Kelly and McGriff) are tight. They are good people and connect with you outside of football.”
Arnoux said he “probably” will be back to Auburn before Signing Day on Dec. 4.
“I like their defense,” he said. “I like what they’re building around their defense.”
Arnoux spoke with On3’s Chad Simmons about his decision.
“Auburn has always felt like home,” Arnoux told On3. “I get a great vibe from the coaches. Auburn is one of those places that has a small-town togetherness. The whole community supports the football team. It gives you a magical feeling.”
