BREAKING: In-state WR Erick Smith, twin brother to Derick Smith, commits to Auburn
Southside (Selma, Ala.) wide receiver Erick Smith, the twin brother of Derick Smith, has committed to Auburn.
Erick Smith, who is 6-foot-6 and 190 pounds, announced his decision Wednesday on social media. His decision comes shortly after visiting Auburn for the Vanderbilt game.
“Every time I come up here, I feel at home,” he said.
Familiarity with the campus and coaches were two big reasons Erick Smith committed to the Tigers. So was wide receivers coach Marcus Davis.
“He is similar to my high school coach,” Smith said. “They don’t sugarcoat anything. They keep it real. He is like family, like a father figure, and that is what I need in my life. I don’t want to be under a coach that shows different sides of himself. I want them to show their true colors and that’s what (Davis) has done.”
Twin brother played a role for Smith committing to Auburn
Erick Smith and Derick Smith are understandably close. The twin brothers now will continue playing football together at Auburn. Derick flipped his commitment from Alabama to Auburn in July.

“He’s part of it,” Erick Smith said of Derick impacting his decision.
So is Hugh Freeze.
“He’s the one who offered me at Auburn,” Erick said. “He’s a straight shooter and a great guy. I like Hugh Freeze. I love Hugh Freeze.”
Erick Smith will return to Auburn for an official visit. He has not scheduled it, but is eyeing a weekend later this month.
“I will probably do it for the Texas A&M game (Nov. 23),” he said.
Erick Smith is the 28th commitment in Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class and third wide receiver. He joins brother Derick Smith and three-star Sam Turner.
