Sam Houston State transfer edge Chris Murray has committed to Auburn.
Murray, who has one year of eligibility remaining, announced his decision Sunday night on social media. He chose Auburn over Florida State and Virginia, among others.
“This is the one,” Murray said. “I will be signing with Auburn (on Monday). I will sign the papers with Auburn.
“War damn eagle!”
Murray’s decision comes after an overnight visit to Auburn.
“The biggest thing for me was the relationships,” he said. “Them showing me that I can contribute in this defense and help them. I know they can help me develop my skills. I’m trying to get to the next level and I feel like (Auburn) is the place for me to do that.
Relationships big for Murray
Auburn defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams played a major part in Murray choosing the Tigers. So did coach Hugh Freeze.
“The plays that I made this season, (King-Williams) replicated them,” he said. “He showed me plays that I did while showing the Auburn plays. I loved it. That is very important.

“What I saw is the people, the relationships. I’m big on relationships. This will be my final season, so relationship-wise I have to come in and trust my coaches. That’s a big piece for me and they showed me that.
“Going to Coach Freeze’s house (during the visit), that’s relationship,” he said. “I went to his house and he was telling me I can contribute, help in being an older guy by showing up to work every day. That was big for me. “
Murray was a first-team All-CUSA selection in 2024 after recording 34 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.
