Brief thoughts after Auburn's tough loss to Kentucky
AUBURN -- Well, I don't think anybody saw what happened on Saturday night inside Neville Arena coming. The Tigers fell to Kentucky 70-59 behind the worst shooting night at home in the Bruce Pearl era. Auburn has never shot under 32 percent from the field and under 20 percent from three at home under Pearl until last night. That's remarkable and shows just how much of an anomaly that performance was. Pearl said after the game to credit Kentucky's defense, and sure, they pressure the Tigers' point guards, but in all, Auburn missed a ton of open looks. They just didn't fall, and the result was an 11-point loss. Auburn is still 20-6 overall and 9-4 in league play, really impressive marks for this team and really, in the big picture, probably right in line with where they should be. Auburn ranks No. 6 in KenPom, No. 6 in T-Rank, No. 7 in the NET and No. 7 in ESPN's Basketball Power Index. Brief thoughts inside on a number of topics...
