Bruce Pearl: 'If we want to win the championship, we have to beat South Carolina. It's pretty simple.'
AUBURN -- If Auburn wants to win the SEC regular season championship, winning both games this week is essentially a must. Bruce Pearl said on Tuesday he knows his team is capable, and now's the time to show it, starting with No. 11 South Carolina on Wednesday night, with No. 22 Kentucky coming to town on Saturday. "Beating Ole Miss twice, that’s a NCAA Tournament team, and then beating Alabama, that’s a NCAA Tournament team and a team that can advance in the tournament, said to me we have a chance to be better than where we were picked, which was sixth in the league," Pearl said. "Certainly now, we’ve been talking all season long about being in position to be in position. That’s where we find ourselves. If we want to win the championship, we have to beat South Carolina. It’s pretty simple. It’s going to be a real challenge. They’ve only lost three games and there’s a reason for that. We’ve worked all spring, summer and fall to get to right here, right now."
