Class of 2023 4-star point guard Aden Holloway commits to Auburn

Four-star point guard Aden Holloway has committed to Auburn.
Holloway, who is ranked the On3 Consensus No. 39 overall recruit in the 2023 class, announced his decision Monday on Instagram.
The No. 8 combo guard in the country chose Auburn over his other finalist, Tennessee. Wake Forest and Miami also were involved.
“There’s nothing to not like about Auburn,” Holloway told AuburnLiveOn3. “Auburn is a great place to be as a person. Yes, it’s a big basketball school, but it’s also a great place to live your life. You have to have stability around you that’s not basketball, and I feel like it’s a great place for that.
“It’s a great family atmosphere and I can get better. Plus, the staff is amazing.”
Relationships, visits played major roles in Holloway’s commitment
Holloway, who originally is from Matthews, N.C., took an official visit to Auburn in February. He then returned in June for an unofficial visit.

“It’s always good coming to Auburn,” Holloway said in June. “I talked it up with Coach (Bruce) Pearl and also worked out a little bit with Wendell (Green). I talked to Coach Pearl and Coach (Ira) Bowman a lot. Coach Pearl, that’s my guy. Coach Bowman, that’s my guy, too. He’s the one who first started recruiting me. Their whole staff is amazing.”
Holloway’s relationships with Pearl and Bowman played big factors in his decision.
“Coach Bowman is my guy,” Holloway said. “He’s super cool. I love the effort he puts in to develop all the guys. That really stands out to me. Coach Pearl, I love his energy. I feel like me and him could have a great point guard-coach relationship.”
Holloway, who has transferred to Prolific Prep in California for his senior season, is the first commitment in Auburn’s 2023 recruiting class.
