Darron Reed, 4-star DL, signs Letter of Intent with Auburn
Four-star defensive lineman Darron Reed of Carver Columbus (Ga.) signed his National Letter of Intent with Auburn on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period. Here’s everything you need to know about him.
On3 Consensus ratings: No. 177 overall, No. 21 DL, No. 12 in Georgia.
Commitment date: November 25, 2022
Chose Auburn over: (Flip from LSU), Florida State, Clemson
Time of enrollment at Auburn: May
Reminds On3 of: Rasheem Green – Houston Texans: Darron Reed’s versatility, quickness and length along the defensive front remind us of Rasheem Green, as an interior pass rusher who could also play as a big defensive end in some fronts.
Darron Reed’s On3 ‘scouting summary’
Big-framed, long defensive lineman with the build and versatile skill set to project at multiple spots along the front. Checks in at 6-foot-5, 260 pounds with the frame and length to continue filling out. Would not be surprised to see him end up in the 300 pound range after some time in a college strength program. Lines up inside and at defensive end for Carver and excels at both spots. Shows off an explosive first step along with the on-field athleticism to track down ball carriers as a pursuit defender. Pairs that athleticism with strong hands and the ability to shed blocks in run defense. Had a strong junior season as a stalwart on the defensive line for a state finalist team.

SEC readiness
Breakdown from Auburn Live’s Cole Pinkston:
Reed is one of the more SEC ready prospects in the 2023 class. He will probably not be given a choice in early playing time. Auburn needs young players to come in and help on the defensive line in 2023.
Reed can help most defensive lines in college football regardless of depth issues. He is extremely active and knows how to disrupt. Causing chaos on the defensive line can help him get on the field while he learns the position.
