Defensive improvements, fantastic team chemistry finally have Bruce Pearl impressed
AUBURN -- Bruce Pearl admits he hasn't been all that impressed with what his team has accomplished, despite their 15-2 record and 4-0 start to league play. But after a 23-point beatdown of No. 22 Ole Miss, Pearl is starting to come around. "I told our guys, they were asking me, ‘coach are you impressed yet?’ I really haven’t been," he said. "We haven’t played that many ranked teams yet. Ole Miss comes in ranked and they are a good team, well coached and good personnel, older guys. To play that well and control the game like we did was impressive." The Tigers led by 19 points at halftime, scored 42 points in the paint, shot 58 percent, made eight threes, and dished out 19 assists on 32 made field goals. The only real negative was 16 turnovers, which is well above Auburn's average of 10 per game. Much more from Pearl on his team's defensive prowess and overall closeness as the Tigers' winning streak rolls on...
