Wide receiver Erick Smith of Selma (Ala.) Southside signed with Auburn on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.

The Smith File

Position: Wide receiver

Height/Weight: 6-foot-6 / 190 pounds

Notable trait/Auburn fit: Smith is tall and skinny at this point, but he’s got a frame that can fill out well. Some have said flex tight end could be in his future.

On3 Industry Ranking: (85.20) No. 1,295 overall, No. 194 wide receiver, No. 42 in Alabama

Commitment date: Nov. 13, 2024

Chose Auburn over: Alabama

Time of enrollment: May

Notable: Smith is the twin brother of 4-star wide receiver Derick Smith. The two were offered by both Auburn and Alabama. Erick Smith was uncommitted before Derick Smith committed to Alabama. Erick Smith wanted to go to Auburn regardless.

QuoteworthyOn Auburn wide receivers coach Marcus Davis: “He is similar to my high school coach,” Smith said. “They don’t sugarcoat anything. They keep it real. He is like family, like a father figure, and that is what I need in my life. I don’t want to be under a coach that shows different sides of himself. I want them to show their true colors and that’s what (Davis) has done.”
