Former Oregon CB D.J. James announces transfer to Auburn
Oregon transfer defensive back D.J. James is transferring to Auburn.
James, who is originally from Spanish Fort, Ala., announced his decision Sunday on Twitter.
He chose Auburn over offers from Miami and Ole Miss, among others.
James big fan of Bryan Harsin
A big reason for James’ decision is Auburn coach Bryan Harsin.
The two have developed a good relationship since Auburn began recruiting James out of the portal. The bond strengthened last weekend after an official visit.
“Coach Harsin is a great guy. I love him,” James said after his official visit. “He has a great plan plan for Auburn and I love how he’s attacking Auburn football, his mentality for Auburn football.
“I really like what he’s doing for Auburn football. He has a plan and wants people on the team that’s willing to execute that plan.”
James sees potential for development at Auburn
James also wants to be coached by Zac Etheridge, Auburn’s second-year cornerbacks coach.
“I love Coach Etheridge,” James said. “He’s a great guy. He knows what he’s doing and is a great development guy. You can tell from the previous places he’s been. He’s had All-American after All-American.”
