BREAKING: Georgia Tech transfer DB Taye Seymore signs with Auburn
Georgia Tech transfer defensive back Taye Seymore has signed with Auburn according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Seymore, who has two years of eligibility remaining, announced his decision Monday on social media. He chose Auburn over Indiana and Michigan State.
“I feel like I can fit in well and I can fly around and be the athlete I feel like I am,” Seymore said. “How close everybody is. I found everybody on the staff has been together for four or five years, I feel like that plays a big role in this. You want to be a part of a staff that’s been together for a while and is all connected as one.”
His decision comes after a two-day official visit this past weekend. The visit made Seymore’s decision an easy one.
“It was a good visit,” he said. “Coach (Charles) Kelly and Hugh Freeze, they came in and welcomed me with open and warm arms. They gave me a visit around the facility and I like what I see. It’s a great environment I feel like, great campus.”
Kelly also was a big factor in Seymore’s decision.
“Coach Kelly is a great coach,” he said. “He develops a lot of good guys into the league.”
Seymore is the fifth addition to Auburn’s 2025 transfer portal class, joining quarterback Jackson Arnold, left tackle Xavier Chaplin, running back Durell Robinson and punter Hudson Kaak.

The process of entering the portal is done through a school’s compliance office. Once a player provides written notification of an intent to transfer, the office enters the player’s name in the database and everything is off and running. The compliance office has 48 hours to comply with the player’s request and that request cannot be refused.
Once a player’s name shows up in the portal, other schools can contact the player. Players can change their minds at any point and withdraw from the portal. However, once a player enters the portal, the current scholarship no longer has to be honored. In other words, if a player enters the portal but decides to stay, the school is not obligated to provide a scholarship anymore.
The database is a normal database, sortable by a variety of topics, including (of course) sport and name. A player’s individual entry includes basic details such as contact info, whether the player was on scholarship and whether the player is transferring as a graduate student.
A player can ask that a “do not contact” tag be placed on the report. In those instances, the players don’t want to be contacted by schools unless they’ve initiated the communication.
The window for FBS players to enter the portal opened Dec. 9 and closes on Dec. 28.
