March 1 is the first day since January 30 recruits could make on-campus visits, and Auburn isn’t wasting any time taking advantage of the opportunity.

Michael Lockhart, a transfer defensive lineman from Georgia Tech, is in Auburn for an unofficial visit, he told AuburnLive.

Lockhart entered the transfer portal in late February after recording 27 tackles and three tackles for loss at Georgia Tech. Auburn quickly offered him in an effort to shore up depth along the defensive line, which has been depleted because of transfers.

Lockhart also has offers from Virginia Tech, UAB, Jackson State, Jacksonville State, Western Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky and South Florida.

“I’m still open and giving everybody a fair chance,” Lockhart said. “I’m going to take some visits and make a decision later. I’m just trying to finish school, and once I’m done with school then I’ll make my decision. I’ll finish school late April.

He is scheduled to transfer after the spring semester with three years of eligibility.
