Harsin's passion helps draw Demetris Robertson to Auburn
AUBURN | It’s been a quick turnaround for Demetris Robertson.
The former Cal-Berkeley and Georgia wideout transferred into Auburn on August 8. Robertson was looking for a fresh start for his final college football season, and he got it.
“The reason why I transferred was to capitalize on my opportunities,” Robertson said on Tuesday. “I wanted to play for a program that fits me best.”

Bryan Harsin was an integral part of that decision. Coming from Georgia, one of the premier programs in the nation currently, Robertson certainly has championship perspective.
He sees good things in what Harsin’s trying to do at Auburn.
“Coach Harsin — he’s a great, great person,” Robertson said. “He aligns with my values. On the field, he’s a great coach. He’s there to push you and make you a better person and athlete.
“The things he’s aligned with. The team is bought into what he offers. He wants the best for us. He competes every day. Believing in the way he’s doing things, and allow yourself to change and adapt. He’s a passionate guy. He’s a passionate person for us and the Auburn program.”
In the span of one month, Robertson arrived on campus and earned a starting role. That led to Robertson catching three passes in Auburn’s opener against Akron.
“I said this before, but he’s got a heck of a job and just catching on to what we’re doing, he’s very bright,” Harsin said prior to the opener.

“His study habits, I think, not just here in the building but away from here, in his dorm room — I think he grasps things pretty well and has done a good job of putting himself in a position where we can use him in different positions.”
Robertson believes this receiver group is capable of big things
The fact that Auburn’s receiving room is unproven is well documented. That’s why someone like Robertson is an important addition. Talented? Yes, but he brings life experience and football knowledge from two other programs to the table.
Robertson can help develop this group. And it’s a group that he believes will take people by surprise sooner, rather than later.
“My role on this team is to be a leader. I need to be consistent and show them the ropes, how to practice and play in games. Be reliable on special teams, off the field as well,” Robertson said.”
“I think this group is going to shock a lot of people as the season goes on.”
