The SEC's coordinator of football officials, John McDaid, took time Tuesday to explain the reasoning behind three significant rule changes enacted for the 2026 season. Those include a change to the "numbering exception" rule for punt coverage, offensive pass interference and the penalty associated with targeting for first-time offenders.
