Less than two weeks after de-committing from Coastal Carolina, 3-star edge Brenton Williams of Opelika (Ala.) has picked a new future home.

And it’s not far down the road from his current one.

Williams, a 6-foot-4 and 245-pound standout, committed to the Auburn Tigers on Monday. He has visited them four times this month.

“It’s the family environment and the people there,” Williams told Auburn Live. “They made me feel welcome. They made me feel appreciated.”

Williams, the No. 25 recruit in the state of Alabama for On3, recently emerged as a Tigers priority. He backed off his Coastal Carolina verbal Nov. 17 and has picked up multiple offers of late. They’ve come from programs such as Penn State, Michigan State and Missouri.

“This whole time I knew I was good,” Williams said. “I Just needed other people to see it.”

For Auburn, this has been a Roc Bellantoni and Cadillac Williams production.Bellantoni, Auburn’s edge coach, has built a great relationship with Williams. Ditto for Cadillac Williams.

Brenton Williams visited Auburn three weeks ago and it went great. The following week, he visited again with his mother. Cadillac Williams, Bellantoni and the rest of the staff impressed both of them.

“Coach Roc and Coach Cadillac — both of them are really passionate about what they do,” Brenton Williams said. “They really love what they do.”

Given Auburn’s coaching situation in recent weeks and not knowing who would be retained, Williams said it was a “hard” choice to commit. But at the same time, he felt at home with the Tigers.

“I went over there and saw how they ran everything,” Williams said. “I could tell they were good people running everything and they were going to develop me right. And it’s close to home. Just as a school, they would have more resources. And it’s SEC football.”

Williams is commitment No. 13 for Auburn and is the Tigers’ third verbal in the last two weeks. You can find the recruiting team rankings for On3 HERE.
