No. 2-ranked wide receiver Jase Mathews set to announce commitment Friday night

Jase Mathews, who is ranked by Rivals as the No. 2 wide receiver in the 2026 class, has set a time for his announcement later this week.
Mathews, who attends Greene County High School in Leakesville, Miss., will announce his decision Friday at 6 p.m. CT, he announced on X.
Mathews will be announcing his decision between Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M and Ole Miss.
Auburn currently leads in the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine. The Tigers, which have two predictions in their favor, have an 88.1% chance of landing Mathews, according to the RPM.
Should Mathews choose Auburn, it likely would be because of his relationships with coaches, as well as players.

Mathews has a very strong bond with Auburn wide receivers coach Marcus Davis.
“He’s my guy,” Mathews said in June. “Me and Coach Davis stay in touch. We talk at least twice a week. He’s a young coach and we have built a good connection. It just gets stronger day by day.
“He showed me things I can do to get better. He also gave me some life tips outside of football and is telling me I’m a priority.”
Mathews has strong bonds with Hugh Freeze and Auburn director of recruiting research and strategy Kenyatta Watson. He also has a close relationship with Auburn freshman quarterback Deuce Knight. The two are close friends, both being from Mississippi, and that relationship is big in Mathews’s recruitment.
