Jaylin Simpson wants to go bowling: 'That's on the line if we don't get our mess together'
AUBURN -- Jaylin Simpson and his four interception still sit just one interception behind three different players for the top spot in college football. And while that's all well and good for Simpson's future endeavors of playing in the NFL, right now, his focus is on righting the ship and making a bowl game. Nobody on this Auburn roster has won a bowl game. In fact, the Tigers have only won two bowl games since the start of the 2012 season, quite an alarming note that Simpson wants to change. Defeating Mississippi State on Saturday, or Vanderbilt or Arkansas in the weeks to follow, would sure go a long way in making a bowl appearance happen. "We really want to play in a bowl game. That’s on the line if we don’t get our mess together. That’s really it. We have to win out. We need some momentum and it starts here in Jordan-Hare. It’s better than trying to start this on the road. Mississippi State is a good team. They are a good team, good defense. Our offense has to be on point. It could be a confidence booster. "I don’t even know if I’ve won a bowl game sine I’ve been here. I want to play as many games as possible. I want to go to a bowl game because I love to play. It’s important because if you don’t go to a bowl game, you have to sit and watch everyone else play, like the season wasn’t a success. We want to go to a bowl so we can feel some kind of success for the season, because right now a lot of people aren’t feeling that right now. I feel like it won’t be such a failure for everybody."
