Punter John McGuire of Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson signed with Auburn on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.

Notable trait/Auburn fit: McGuire handled both punting and kicking duties for Thompson High. He should only be a punter on the next level. in the game we watched in person this season, McGuire had nearly 10 punts downed inside the 20 yard line.

Quoteworthy: “I’ve been coming to Auburn games since I was two or three. My mom graduated from here. My sister went here and my brother (Evan) went here. So, when I came down here to kick for (special teams coach Tanner Burns), it felt like home compared to all the other places I went.”
