Four-star defensive tackle Jourdin Crawford of Birmingham (Ala.) Parker signed with Auburn on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.

The Crawford File

Position: Defensive line – Nose/0/shade, 2/3-technique

Height/Weight: 6-1 / 330 pounds

Notable trait/Auburn fit: Crawford is never moved off of the line of scrimmage. He demands double teams while providing plenty of juice as a pass rusher from the interior as well. He’s a well-rounded interior defensive lineman.

On3 Industry Ranking: (92.06) No. 164 overall, No. 15 defensive lineman, No. 11 in Alabama

Commitment date: Oct. 16, 2023

Chose Auburn over: LSU, Miami

Time of enrollment: January

Notable: Crawford was one of the first commitments of the 2025 class. He took one other official visit to LSU, but never wavered in his commitment to Auburn. Crawford, who is a man of few words, wanted to be an Auburn Tiger from very early in the process and did not mess around.

Quoteworthy: “I mean, it feels like home. Nothing has changed. I come every weekend, every home game. I’m just making myself at home. The relationship I have with the coaches, it’s more than just football. It kind of makes you feel like a family. You really don’t get that at too many other places.”

Film Breakdown

***Film breakdown written by Auburn Live Analyst Cole Pinkston

— Crawford is a 6-foot-1.5 310 pounds. He is stocky, yet holds pretty good length with his frame.

— Crawford has a sudden jolt when he wants to. He can spring off of the line, which is highly impressive as big as he is.

— Crawford has shown some surprising athleticism for an interior defensive lineman. He lines up at wildcat quarterback and has scored in a big game this season. He also has a scoop and score touchdown in which he showed some good speed running with the ball. Crawford is a strong nose/3-technique prospect. One of the best in the 2025 class in my opinion.

— Crawford is an interior defensive lineman all the way. In fact, he is not overly versatile and that may have hurt his stock with Auburn at first. Things have changed as he has proven to be a problem in the middle of the defense for Parker.

— if you’re looking for a true nose guard, Crawford has that capability. He is not limited to only playing at the nose spot, but his value is in taking up doubles and slipping through gaps on the interior.

— Every 3-4 snaps, Crawford pops off of the line of scrimmage with elite quickness. He knows how to do it, it is just a matter of consistency as he continues to grow and learn. That flash of athleticism he shows at time could lead to NFL Draft ability.

— Crawford knows how to win, period. He isn’t always technically sound, but he knows how to reset his feet, get below his opponent, have his hips in the right place, and most importantly, get off of blocks.

— I had concerns about Crawford as a pass rusher. It is not a huge deal as he is an interior guy. His progression from his sophomore year to his senior year has been substantial. He is mostly a bull rusher, but Crawford can bend and throw his weight around with poise. He will never be a sack leader in college, but he is on his way to being an every down lineman (Not being taken out for better pass rushers).

— Crawford is one of the more SEC ready players in the nation for the class of 2025. He has the build, the quickness, the physicality, the advanced technique at times, and the football IQ to be successful very early in college. He is an impact player.
