Auburn at Alabama 4th quarter updates
6:05 pm: What an unbelievable run by Hunter. Alabama couldn’t have played that any better, but he found a way out of the phone booth.
6:01 pm: I think Bill O’Brien does Alabama a disservice by not giving the ball to Gibbs 30-40 times a game. Alabama 49 Auburn 27. Maybe the Tigers can add another score in this one.
5:53 pm: McPherson connects from 39. I assume an onside kick is coming. Alabama 42 Auburn 27
5:51 pm: Wow.. nice completion to Shed Jackson. Auburn has at least owned this second half. Then a slow screen. Nice job.
5:50 pm: Keep it on the ground. Make them feel the pain. You make them limp away with a victory today. That is the goal. GREAT 4th down call with the toss read. Love that.
5:49 pm: Alabama lines up with 12?.. Wow.. What a play by Ashford too. Auburn will get another shot.
5:45 pm: Alabama players are FEELING this offense. You have to love that.
5:40 pm: INTERCEPTION!! Owen Pappoe creates a HUGE turnover.. Auburn is back in business.. Maybe. It is under review. IT STANDS!
5:37 pm: Wow.. Nice tackle by Caleb Wooden. The freshman in the game in a key moment.
5:32 pm: Alabama feeling a little bit of urgency. Having to go back to the intermediate passing stuff. Auburn has a great opportunity right here obviously. The clock needs to be held up now.. Total shift from earlier.
5:27 pm: Auburn gets three on the long drive. A tough and meaningful drive. Alabama 42 Auburn 24.
5:26 pm: A play action with Hunter in the flats.. And it would have worked. Man. Catch the snap.
5:23 pm: Wow.. The draw has been good for Ashford and this offensive line. A face-mask keeps Auburn from having to go for it on 4th down again. Auburn is in business.
Auburn at Alabama 3rd quarter updates
5:17 pm: Henry To’oto’o’s nose is a great representation of what this offense is doing to Bama’s defense. It should feel good for the players. They don’t have what Bama has, but they’re manning up. Love to see that. Also, that’s a lot of apostrophes
5:16 pm: Alabama condenses right along with the offensive formation. Ashford is a SERIOUS athlete. And he’s fighting his tail off for Auburn tonight. Move those chains.
5:14 pm: The power read play is tough. Great block by Luke Deal once again on the perimeter. Hunter gave full effort. Go for it if it’s short.
5:12 pm: This is basically high school stuff.. Wildcat left, wildcat right. If Alabama doesn’t care for it, continue it.
5:11 pm: Alabama not enjoying the power football as much right now. Keep at it.
5:10 pm: Back to the power read. Good read, good play.
5:07 pm: Instead of edge pressure, Schmedding dialed up an inside twist with Pappoe. Nice job! Auburn back in business. Geez Keionte.
5:04 pm: Alabama is getting ready to ride the OL and run the football. I’d try some different linebackers at this point. Get some guys coming down hill.
5:00 pm: ASHFORD!! Great run on the draw which worked earlier in the game. He really weaved through some traffic there. Send a message. Don’t quit. Alabama 42 Auburn 21
4:59 pm: Loved that route. Thats the result you want.. No flag. That’s the way it goes sometimes.
4:58 pm: Misdirection however they can figure it out. Great play call. Great block out there. 1st and goal.
4:56 pm: A nice wildcat play to start with. No reason not to run the ball now. I thought the ball needed to be kept on the ground more early in the game, but the false starts sort of stopped that.
4:50 pm: A demoralizing opening drive from Alabama took the air out of the sails of any comeback. Whether or not there is a score. The question now, can Auburn stay competitive and finish strong? Cadillac will work to get that out of this team. Alabama 42 Auburn 14
4:46 pm: 3rd down is a problem for Auburn’s defense. Alabama has no problem calling long-developing routes. Pass rush has to get home.
Auburn at Alabama 2nd quarter updates
4:23 pm: Cadillac’s style? Get one more nice hit and try to get the ball. I don’t hate it. It’s a message to the team. Don’t quit. At half Alabama 35 Auburn 14
4:21 pm: Auburn can’t get anything going other than a nice QB draw. The Tigers are not built to come from behind. Nor are they built to have fresh legs on defense in the second half.
4:19 pm: Points on this drive would be a very small victory going in.
4:14 pm: A touchdown here would be a dagger.. And, there it is. Holden on the tunnel screen. Alabama 35 Auburn 14.
4:11 pm: This is where Alabama dials up the deep ball.. The secondary needs to understand that.
4:07 pm: Great play by Keionte Scott, great pressure from Hall.. This was the same as the other long 3rd down.. This time, the window was tighter. That’s what happens. Great stuff.
4:05 pm: That free play hurts very badly. But 3rd and short might be better for Auburn than a passing down believe it or not. Neither are good, for the record.
4:02 pm: Getting behind the chains is a death sentence for most offenses. You can multiply that by 10 in this game for Auburn.
3:59 pm: Auburn had a screen set up to Damari Alston.. Good idea. but it was covered.
3:55 pm: Wow.. That’s an embarrassing one. Coverage is fine.. Ball is thrown up for grabs. Freshman wasn’t ready for it. Alabama 28 Auburn 14.. Just trying to hang in there.
3:54 pm: Just a perfect throw and a crucial missed tackle.. Really wasn’t overly open. Limit those plays. Have to cover tighter.
3:53 pm: Wow.. DJ James assists Riley there as he comes flying down on the screen. Nice.
3:52 pm: NOBODY is open down field. Except for an out route that Young never sees. Hall has way more speed than Young ever considered.
3:44 pm: A rule in football: If one goes out, someone is coming in.. It’s reciprocal. That happens in most passing concepts. Linebackers over the middle are supposed to understand that.

3:39 pm: That drive ate up a lot of time. That’s a victory. That throw was something else. This version of the 2022 team feels a little like the 2013 team.. Just going about their business.. Not really aware of the scoreboard. That’s a good sign.
3:37 pm: A passing down isn’t ever good. Go for the back shoulder… OH MY GOODNESS… UNBELIEVABLE THROW! Touchdown!! It’s the long-developing wheel concept AGAIN. Like we said this week. Beautiful. Alabama 21 Auburn 13 with the extra point coming.
3:35 pm: The swing is just an extension of the run game. Working the perimeter and forcing the edges and corners to play physically. I want the back shoulder again.
3:34 pm: Nice. A crossing concept.. Ashford sticks it in there to an open Koy Moore. Nice job. Make that clock run.
3:33 pm: Keep working the perimeter. The tackles and tight ends are handling the edges well surprisingly.
3:32 pm: Wow.. That looked like the Notre Dame box reverse. Hunter makes up for it and has a lot of real estate. Big play! Now, use clock.
3:28 pm: Split zone play freezes the backers. The defensive front held, but the linebackers weren’t there. Touchdown. Alabama 21 Auburn 7
Auburn at Alabama 1st quarter updates
3:22 pm: Wow.. Great play call with the speed lead option. Terrific play call. Hunter has to do better than that. Alabama ball. Not good.
3:22 pm: Ashford on the run, makes a really nice throw to Shedrick Jackson on the waggle like play.
3:19 pm: A throw back play. Only one player in Cam Riley out to cover. Alabama 14 Auburn 7. Auburn needs to melt as much clock as possible on the next drive.
3:17 pm: Those blitzes are good, but when they don’t get home, Auburn is in trouble. They aren’t getting home right now.
3:13 pm: Auburn has closed the pocket well, but can’t get off of blocks. Morris Joseph slipped off late and affected the throw. Good job. He wants to hold longer for the big play.
3:10 pm: 93 for Alabama ruined the toss play by staying wide and not giving Tank a cut back. I don’t like the swing screen in this one. Just keep it on the ground in that case. A toss to win some field position here. Auburn will punt.
3:05 pm: Pressure from one side, no containment on the other. That results in a touchdown. Have to be sound today or it will hurt. Auburn 7 Alabama 7
3:03 pm: There’s the deep ball. Pocket was as clean as it possibly could have been. Puckett couldn’t run with that forever. Auburn needs to tighten up here and watch Latu.
3:02 pm: Tight ends doing work? Good thing I didn’t have an entire report on that being the case earlier.. Oh wait.
2:57 pm: TOUCHDOWN!!! Ashford on the misdirection QB sweep. Woah. Great play, great blocking.. I need to see that one again. He might be down at the one. Auburn 6 Alabama 0 BOOM
2:56 pm: Meanwhile.. Look at that clock. THAT is what you want
2:55 pm: This play was a fantastic call. A back shoulder throw to the big, physical Camden Brown. Pass interference.. Do it again.
2:54 pm: Woah.. Tank just did it by himself No-one took care of the edge on the play side.. Weird.
2:50 pm: Ashford had nobody. Man, that is going to be a problem. Ashford slipped through. Hard to account for a scramble up the middle. Then the good ol’ power read play. Good read by Ashford.
2:50 pm: A drag screen with one blocker in front.. A little cute. I like running the ball there.
2:45 pm: Derick Hall came from linebacker level on 3rd down. He ran Young down with 100% effort. Nice play to force 4th down. Alabama will punt.
2:44 pm: Auburn loses the edge against a GT counter play. Then Hall makes up for it with a great stab and pressure to force a bad throw.
2:41 pm: An early toss after a bad play or two.. Good to set the tone. On 3rd down, it looks similar to what any 3rd down has looked like when Ashford has to throw. Nothing looked good down field or in pass protection. Bad start.
