Morris Joseph, a transfer defensive lineman from Memphis, has committed to Auburn.
Joseph announced his decision Wednesday night on Twitter.
His decision comes three days after leaving an official visit to Auburn, a visit that proved to be the only one he needed.
“I had a great time,” Joseph said after the visit. “We hung out with the coaches and the staff, did a little axe throwing, went around the town so I got to see Auburn a little bit. There are a lot of great food spots.”
Joseph spent a lot of time with Auburn’s first-year defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh. He also spoke with Auburn coach Bryan Harsin. Both made good impressions on Joseph.
“Coach Brumbaugh is very knowledgeable when it comes to the d-line position,” Joseph said. “He showed me a lot of ways that could help improve my game. That is a big plus to me. It was great just getting to talk ball with him.
“Coach Harsin, just talking to him, we got to really connect about our passion for the game. It was a great experience overall. All the coaches had a great vibe to them. Everything was authentic.

“(Auburn is) unlike any place I’ve ever visited before.”
AU getting versatile lineman in Joseph
Joseph entered the portal after starting nine games last season for Memphis. He had 38 tackles and 1.5 sacks. As a junior in 2020, Joseph recorded 52 tackles, a team-high seven sacks, 10.5 tackles for loss and was an All-AAC honorable mention.
He took official visits to Georgia Tech and Arkansas before Auburn.
“I feel like I’m a three-down defensive lineman and can stay on the field for three downs straight. Also, I can stop the run and rush the passer … feel like I have a complete game. I want to go somewhere I can polish my tools and develop more.”
Joseph is the third transfer to commit to Auburn this spring. He joins Miami transfer wide receiver Dazalin Worsham and Iowa State safety Craig McDonald. Both Worsham and McDonald have signed with Auburn. Joseph is expected to sign as early as Wednesday night.
Joseph, who is from Orange, Texas, has one year of eligibility.
