BREAKING: Mississippi State transfer OT Percy Lewis commits to Auburn
Mississippi State transfer offensive tackle Percy Lewis will finish his college career at Auburn.
Lewis, who has one year of eligibility, chose the Tigers over Ole Miss and Arkansas, among others. His decision to transfer to Auburn comes soon after an official visit to the Plains.
Lewis visited Auburn on Jan. 5-6.
More on Lewis and his Auburn visit from Auburn Live’s Cole Pinkston…
At Mississippi State, Lewis appeared in 25 career games with eight starts, making seven of those starts in the 2023 season where he also took home All-SEC Honorable Mention honors from College Football Network.
Lewis played high school football at Salis (MS) McAdams and was a four-star prospect out of Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C, where was the No. 3 overall JUCO recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 JUCO Industry Ranking.
Lewis was an Auburn target when he was a JUCO recruit. He is now a top option for Auburn as a transfer portal recruit. He enjoyed his first visit to Auburn. Well, second visit technically, after playing against Auburn in Jordan-Hare Stadium this season.
First true visit to Auburn
Lewis was recruited by Auburn the first time, but he never visited. He finally made that visit.
“It was good,” Lewis said. “The flight was short. It was bumpy at first. The weather was kinda bad so they had to find some good air. It was good, though. It was short. Kind of had a little trouble getting out of the airport.”
Lewis felt at home at Auburn, and it was bigger than he expected.
“I really didn’t expect to see this much to be real with you because I didn’t expect it to be this big,” Lewis said. “But I liked it, though. It kinda reminds me back at home.”
Lewis is glad to have finally gotten to see Auburn in person and what it is about. He loves the strength and conditioning coach, Dom Studzinki.

“Yes sir, I did. I actually came up here now and I feel more comfortable now,” Lewis said. “I feel more comfortable now. Then Dom, he’s training Charles and them. That kinda motivated me to lean more this way too.”
What were some highlights of the visit?
“The connections, really, sitting down and talking with the coaches,” Lewis said. “They’re telling me how they’re going to work with me 1-on-1. I need that 1-on-1 because this is my third or fourth year playing offensive line. I didn’t play offensive line in high school so I’m still kind of learning.”
The message
What was the message from Auburn coaches.
“He was telling me that he’s got a freshman under me,” Lewis said. “He needs somebody to come in that’s already been playing SEC ball. Because SEC ball, the SEC and Pac-12, that’s totally different. It’s totally different. You’ve got to have your mind right when you come into SEC ball. They’ll come in and knock your head off if you’re not doing what you’re supposed to do.”
Lewis seemed very impressed by the strength program at Auburn. He’s especially interested in the players Studzinki trains.
“Yeah, Laremy Tunsil,” he said. “He came from Ole Miss. Me hearing him saying he training them guys in the league. I know Charles (Cross) personally. It made me lean more coming to Auburn.”
