BREAKING: No. 1 JUCO DB Laquan Robinson commits to Auburn
Laquan Robinson, who is ranked the No. 1 junior college safety in the country, has committed to Auburn football.
The three-star recruit from Holmes Community College in Mississippi announced his decision on Friday. Robinson made his decision public during a ceremony at Greenville (Ala.) High School, his high school alma mater.
“Auburn is home,” he said. “I really love it at Auburn. All of my family, my dad, are all real big Auburn fans, so it really means a lot.”
Robinson chose Auburn over several other offers, including Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
“I love the environment at Auburn and the coaches,” he said. “The fans come out every game and support you. You can tell the fans really love the game and everything around it. It’s like a big family.”
Robinson should know. He’s been to Auburn twice this fall. He attended Auburn’s games against Georgia and Ole Miss.
“The visit went great,” he said. “I really connected with all the coaches.”
Relationships key for Robinson
Robinson has developed a strong bond with Auburn secondary coach Zac Etheridge. The two have communicated regularly since the Tigers began recruiting Robinson.
“Coach Etheridge is a great coach,” he said. “I feel a great connection with him and I feel like we can go somewhere with this. He is like a brother. As soon as I met him, I loved him already. That’s my guy.”

The On3 Industry Ranking, which is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, ranks Robinson the No. 9 overall junior college player in the country and No. 1 safety.
In nine games this season at Holmes, Robinson has 49 tackles, 27 solos, 2.5 tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, an interception and a fumble recovery. Last season, he recorded 46 tackles, 39 of which were solo stops, and an interception.
He is on pace to enroll in January with two years of eligibility.
Robinson, who is listed at 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, is the Tigers’ 17th commitment in the 2024 class and No. 11 on defense. He’s also the fifth defensive back, joining four-star Jalyn Crawford, four-star Kensley Austin, four-star A’Mon Lane and three-star Kaleb Harris.
