No. 16 Auburn hosts LSU in battle of SEC unbeatens: Three thoughts, plus quick hitters

AUBURN -- On Saturday, No. 16 Auburn (13-2, 2-0 SEC) will host LSU (10-5, 2-0 SEC) in a battle of the unbeatens at Neville Arena. The Tigers come into the game on an eight-game winning streak, while LSU has won four straight. The game tips off at 5 pm CT and will be televised on the SEC Network. A victory would propel Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl past Cliff Ellis, who led the Tigers to 186 wins in ten seasons from 1994-95 to 2003-04, to second place on the school's all-time coaching victories list. Joel Eaves leads the way with 213 victories over 14 seasons (1949-50 to 1962-63). LSU leads 87-70 in the all-time series with Auburn. However, AU has won the last two games in the series. Auburn has won four of the last six games overall and three straight on its home court. The Tigers hold a 39-35 advantage in games played on The Plains including 5-3 at Neville Arena.
